April 6, 2017 Poets United Midweek Motif/April

April

the fourth month                      of the year                                each year it seems new

unpredictable                           the temperature rises                balmy days disappear

fruit trees begin to bud             new green everywhere              colorful crocus appear

clouds gather on the horizons       dark and grey                       storms bring snow

winter again                             hat and gloves                          get your coat

hibernate a little longer             stoke the fire in the fireplace    dream of summer

You have captured the vicissitudes of April so well. Yesterday we had warm sun and birdsong. Today the wall of trees outside my window are flailing back and forth in wind and it is grey and wet. And we are April fools, lol, alternately charmed and doused.

Just lovely! The way you write it, it seems like a sweet and natural progression despite the need for protection against the cold.

I have a friend in Aztec who's been sitting by her wood stove for the past few days. April's promised warmth comes slowly to northern New Mexico, it seems.

We spend both Summer and Winter dreaming of the opposite season! The details you capture here speak to me.

Lots of things happen in April, even the birth of another fool. Love your depictions of this crazy month. Had to go to the doctor today. My sister said they were forecasting gusts of wind up to 40 miles an hour. They were correct,
